Mould Assessment

EKG was contracted by a restoration firm and insurance company to perform an investigation of the building envelope of an 85 person aided retirement home, as the result of a water intrusion event. The examination utilized nondestructive testing of the structure using thermal imaging, and cameras to investigate wall cavities and voids. Bulk sampling of materials exhibiting mould growth, and air sampling to assess airborne spores and their levels.

The results indicated extensive mould growth related to the current water incursion in addition to past events. Based on the findings EKG Inc. developed a series of remediation protocols, by leading standards and guidelines, for ensuring the safety of the restoration teams, and the residents living in the facility.

During remediation EKG resources were present on site to collect air samples to ensure containment measures were effective. On completion surface and air sampling verified the areas were at or below ambient (outdoor) levels and species.
