Description

CES Practical (CES2) is the next step in the evolution of your ergonomics skill set. This course is a hands-on workshop and builds upon the intensive classroom oriented CES and Office program. Participants will use a variety of techniques, tools, forms, etc., to assess a series of tasks including various office workstations, simple to complex industrial scenarios and if requested construction workflows. Participants will refine their skills for collecting qualitative and quantitative data about the job scenarios including use of ergonomic instruments to measure work parameters (weights, push-pull forces, grip forces, heights, distances, time, etc.). In short, you will have the opportunity using real life scenarios, to practice all of the skills you learned in CES designation and Office Ergonomics Certification.

Prerequisites

This course requires an existing or previous CES Designation or Office Ergonomics Certification.

Outline

Analysis/Technical tools that will be used and completed during course:

  • NIOSH
  • Snook tables
  • RULA
  • Strain Index

Physical tools (data collection tools) used during course for data collection:

  • Push/Pull force gauge
  • Hand grip force gauge
  • Pinch grip force gauge
  • Goniometer
  • Weight scales
  • Measuring tape

What You Will Learn

  • Hands on practice collecting REAL data from a variety of mock workstations including office, industrial (line work / assembly), and industrial (other)
  • Practice using the data collection tools introduced in CES or Office
  • Access to advance ergonomic forms used by EKGinc
  • Experience completing PDDs and ETAs (physical demands descriptions and ergonomic task analyses) with REAL data (worker present at workstation) while being mentored by a professional ergonomist on the process
  • Confidence and experience to aid you in completing ergonomic assessments at various levels.

Course Features

  • Certification Upon successful completion of this course, a certificate will be available to all participants via online access. As a bonus, the CES2 course can replace the CES recertification requirement. (Within one year of expiry date). The course carries a 24 hour or 3-day CEU credit for most professional designations.
